Help us convert this space from Mudville to Healthy-Playville!
We acquired this building in the community of Padre Granero for our school in 2015. It was a carpentry shop with the outdoor space rented out to a group of diesel mechanics. The carpenters left immediately and we began converting the indoor space into a school, but with no outdoor recess space.
In 2020, we ended the rental contract with the mechanics. In 2021, we finally were successful in getting them to move out. Now we have ample recess space!
However, the space adjoins a canal and during heavy rain, water would come up from under the ground, up to knee deep. In January, we were able to work on the area adjoining the canal with a water resistent material cemented over top. It has worked! No more filtration from underground! Putting a stucco finish on the wall bordering the canal has helped as well.
However, we still have 3,657 sq. ft. left to finish. We need to complete this project before April 8th when a volunteer group arrives to build recess equipment on the space, and before the government visits us.
Thank you for your support! For donations of $35 and over, we'll be in touch to coordinate mailing the donor a t-shirt as a perk.
